Man United identify AS Monaco’s midfielder as their next summer target
According to ‘Sky Sports‘ and backed by ‘Sportsmole UK’, Premier League giants Man United have identified a potential midfield option to fill up that void that has slowly been formed at the club amidst the uncertain future of players like Casemiro and Scott McTominay.
The player that the Red Devils and Erik ten Hag are reportedly interested in bringing to Old Trafford is Ligue 1 side AS Monaco’s midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The midfielder joined Monaco’s first team about four years ago and since then went on to represent them in over 170 games at the highest level.
While he doesn’t have massively engaging numbers to show for his time at the French club so far in the form of 22 goal-contributions, his capability, and skills certainly make him one of the most improving midfielders in Europe at this moment in time.
However, reports further had it that, United are looking at Fofana as more of a replacement for Scott McTominay if the Scotsman departs the club before the ongoing summer 2024 window shuts. Reports in the English media have insisted that Fulham’s improved bid for McTominay was around £20 million while United is holding out for something in the range of £30 million.
It remains to be seen how things progress ahead on this whole McTominay-Youssouf saga for Man United.
