I Think Ruben Is Doing a Great Job: Man United’s Co-Owner Jim Ratcliffe Heaps Praise on Coach
With the club in a poor state, Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has put his full backing behind manager Ruben Amorim. The club are massively struggling this season and currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League.
Forget titles or even Champions League qualification, it is very unlikely that United will even make the top 10 this season. That is a massive disappointment for a club for whom a trophyless season would have been an embarrassment not long ago.
Amorim assumed control of management from Erik Ten Hag after the Dutch coach found it difficult to prepare the team at the beginning of the 2024-2025 season. That being said, things have not taken an upward turn under the former Sporting Club manager as well.
According to Fabrizio on X, as reported by BBC, owner Jim Ratcliffe said, “If I look at the squad which is available to Rúben Amorim, I think he is doing a really good job, to be honest.
“Amorim is an outstanding young manager. He’s an excellent manager and I think he will be at Man United for a long time.”
Interestingly, Ratcliffe himself is also new to the club, assuming control not very long ago. He too has been under fire as the club has seen ridiculous cost-cutting measures including a massive firing spree of staff and benefits being cut. The owner also made an interesting comment about the squad as a whole claiming “Some players are not good enough and some probably are overpaid…but for us to mold the squad that we are fully responsible for and accountable for, will take time.”
