Man City vs Man Utd Team News: Ten Hag & Guardiola deliver squad updates ahead of crunch Premier League clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola have delivered squad updates ahead of Man City vs Man Utd on Sunday, March 3. The two teams faced off in October when City were comfortable 3-0 winners at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag speaks ahead of Man City vs Man Utd
Speaking in his pre-match press conference with United’s official website, ten Hag revealed his squad will remain unchanged ahead of this game.
“They fought to be part [of it] and they came well out of the game. I think they will be available for Sunday as well.
“And for the rest, I don’t think players will return for Sunday, so we do it with the squad from yesterday.”
The Red Devils earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. They toiled hard for over 80 minutes before Casemiro finally scored the winner courtesy of an assist from skipper Bruno Fernandes in the 88th minute.
Fernandes as well as defender Raphael Varane were doubts ahead of the clash against Forest. However, both completed 90 minutes and should be available for Man City vs Man Utd.
Apart from that, Erik ten Hag’s words suggest Harry Maguire will not make the squad. Neither will Rasmus Hojlund, who is not more than a couple of weeks away from fitness. Meanwhile, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Lisandro Martinez, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw all remain sidelined.
Pep Guardiola’s update ahead of Manchester Derby
Manchester City will have most of their main players fit and available for the game. Guardiola is set to deliver the latest updates in his official press conference later on Friday.
Jack Grealish was withdrawn from City’s 6-2 demolition of Luton Town in the FA Cup after 38 minutes. He is believed to have aggravated a groin issue that has bothered him multiple times already this season. Meanwhile, Josko Gvardiol has returned to full training and is in contention to make the squad.
Ederson, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Phil Foden were given the night off at Kenilworth Road and will be back in full flow for Man City vs Man Utd.
