Man City forward inches closer to an Atletico Madrid transfer: Report
As per an official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) post by ‘Transfer News Live’, and further backed by reputed journalist ‘Cesar Luis Merlo’, La Liga club Atletico Madrid is closing in and currently advancing in their pursuit to sign Premier League side Man City‘s forward Julian Alvarez in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The report has further inflicted that, Julian Alvarez is also ‘willing’ to leave City to pursue a more significant/influential role at Atletico. Well as per this angle of the report, it can definitely be asserted that even though Alvarez has played under the shadows of Erling Haaland till now at Man City, Pep Guardiola has certainly made him a more common feature of his playing eleven in recent times.
The 24-year-old Argentian also made some valuable contributions throughout the last Premier League season, to help his side clinch the title. In his 36 appearances for Man City in the previous top-flight English campaign, Alvarez had 20 goal contributions (11 goals and nine assists) to his name.
His current contract with the English club runs till June 2028. Alvarez also had a pretty decent Copa America 2024 stint with Argentina. Leading his country to the second consecutive Copa America title, he scored two goals in his five outings in the tournament.
It could be inferred that any deal in terms of price for the forward could be a hefty one for Atletico Madrid unless they work some sort of loan deal/agreement out for the 24-year-old with Man City.
