Mailson started his career in 2014 by joining Sport Recife’s youth setup from Sao Domingos-AL. He made his team debut on 4 April 2017, starting in a 2-2 Campeonato Pernambucano which was a draw against Salgueiro. He was promoted to the main squad in the 2018 season, and he made his Série A debut on 24 April, in a 1–1 home draw against Botafogo. In 2022, he suffered an injury that took him out for the remainder of the year. On returning, he lost his spot to Luan Polli. On 22 July 2022, Mailson Joined the Al Taawoun Saudi Arabian Club.
