Liverpool 3-0 Southampton – The Match Won by Klopp’s Kids
Teenagers Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns stole the spotlight with their stellar performances, each finding the back of the net to propel Liverpool into the quarter-finals, where they are set to face arch-rivals Manchester United.
Koumas, making his senior debut, opened the scoring late in the first half, while Danns, introduced as a substitute, showcased his prowess by adding two more goals to seal Liverpool’s victory.
Their remarkable achievement marks the first time in Liverpool’s illustrious history that two players aged 18 or younger have scored in the same senior game, signalling a promising future for the club’s burgeoning talent pool.
Both youngsters had previously been part of the squad during Liverpool’s EFL Cup final triumph against Chelsea, with Koumas featuring on the bench and Danns making crucial contributions off the bench.
Notably, Koumas is the son of former Premier League player Jason Koumas, while Danns follows in the footsteps of his father, Neil Danns, another former top-flight footballer.
Their goals couldn’t have come at a more opportune moment for Liverpool, who are grappling with a significant injury crisis.
