Mohamed Salah Stats: Egyptian sets new record after scoring in 4-2 victory over Tottenham
Mohamed Salah Stats: Liverpool man delivers 10+ goals and 10+ assists for the fifth time
Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah became just the second player in Premier League history to record 10+ goals and 10+ assists each following his assist for Harvey Elliot in their 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur today.
The Egyptian ace was also on target in the evening, bagging his 18th top-flight goal of the season, while also bringing his assist count to double figures by setting up Elliott for their fourth goal of the match.
Former Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is the only other player with such a unique record, with the England international setting quite a few of them during his glorious run with the Red Devils that lasted over a decade.
Salah, though, has been no less since joining Liverpool in 2018 from AS Roma. His goalscoring exploits have seen him make and create many milestones over the past six years.
Today, the 31-year-old also became the first player in the Premier League history to net 10+ goals and 10+ assists in three consecutive seasons, also a difficult record. But more importantly, it’s a reflection of the player he is.
Liverpool crush Tottenham Hotspur but title hopes already over
Having struggled for results in recent weeks, Liverpool roared back to form with a 4-2 crushing of Tottenham Hotspur today. The Reds had raced to a four-goal lead inside the hour mark, as goals from Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott had given them a comfortable cushion. Richarlison and Son Heung-min scored apiece for the Lilywhites midway through the second half to reduce the blow, but it couldn’t inspire a comeback as Liverpool ran out victors. As much as Jurgen Klopp would be elated today, the Premier League title is still out of their reach as they cannot catch Arsenal and Manchester City anymore.
