Liverpool Injury Update: Mohamed Salah returns to full training ahead of trip to Brentford
Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have been handed a massive boost as superstar Mohamed Salah has returned to full training.
The club shared the news via videos and images on their social media accounts, which were further relayed by media outlets. Bleacher Report Football shared a video showing Salah walking onto the Reds’ AXA Training Centre pitch.
The Egyptian’s return is timed perfectly for the Reds, whose next game is at Brentford in the Premier League. Mo Salah had been out of action for Liverpool since the first week of January due to a recurring hamstring injury.
His absence started with his team’s trip to Arsenal in the FA Cup which they eventually won. He has missed eight games since, including that one. Although Salah travelled with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations, his involvement was limited as he played just one-and-a-half games during his time away. They eventually crashed out after a 7-8 defeat to DR Congo on penalties in the round of 16.
Liverpool will need their talismanic forward now more than ever before this season. The Reds are currently first in the Premier League with 54 points from 24 games. They still have 14 games to play before the title is decided. With the Europa League knockouts due to start soon as well, Jurgen Klopp will look to keep his entire squad fit for the next few months, especially Salah.
Mohamed Salah has been the flag-bearer for Liverpool this season. In 27 appearances across competitions, the Egyptian has scored 18 goals and provided nine assists. He averages one goal contribution per game and has been the primary attacking threat in most of the Reds’ games.
Forwards Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have shared the goal scoring burden well in Salah’s absence. However, his return will only ease the nerves in the dressing room as they gear up for yet another title race.
