Liverpool injury update ahead of Sheffield clash | Premier League
Premier League leaders Liverpool FC are set to host bottom-placed Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday, March 4. The Reds have had to deal with numerous injury issues to key players this season. While the likes of Mohamed Salah have returned, some players are still out of action.
Liverpool injury update
In a pre-match press conference ahead of the Sheffield clash, manager Jurgen Klopp provided an injury update on his squad. He said about Curtis Jones, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota:
“Curtis is in training, full training, and is in contention. Yeah, that’s it pretty much.
“The other boys [are] doing well. Diogo and Trent are together in a group, which helps both, but [it] looks like from next week on they will be hopefully in parts of team training, and then we will see the rest.”
Liverpool have also been without their main goalkeeper Alisson Becker since February due to a hamstring injury. About him, Klopp said:
“Ali is with the goalkeeper coaches, so I just see them through the fence, but that looks good as well. I think in his mind as well, next week parts of team training.”
Stefan Bajcetic, meanwhile, hasn’t made a single appearance this season. He is back in training with the U21 side while Wataru Endo is fit for the Sheffield clash.
“He [Bajcetic] trains now fully with the U21s this week. That means we will take him in training next week to us and then we will see. Another one coming and that’s super-important,” Klopp said.
“Wataru, what a player, what a guy. He got a knock in the last game, so we have to see for tomorrow what we can do with him,” he added.
Liverpool are also without Joel Matip, who will miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury.

They will also face West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in some of the key games in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup in what will be Jurgen Klopp’s final season at the club.
