Liverpool getting closer to top target Martin Zubimendi

The Reds are reportedly inching closer to a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who has refused to sign a new contract with the La Liga outfit this summer. The 25-year-old has a £51 million buyout clause which Liverpool are very keen to trigger in this transfer window.

Liverpool are still willing to negotiate on a transfer fee directly with the Basque club and there’s still a chance for the deal to be structured. Real Sociedad are also keen to tie the Spaniard to a long-term lucrative contract that will make him one of the highest-paid players in La Liga.

But, the Reds are keen to wrap up the deal for the Euro 2024 winner as soon as possible.
