Liverpool expected to make move for defender Goncalo Inacio
The Reds are set to make their first proposal for long-term target Goncalo Inacio, who plies his trade with Sporting CP in the Portuguese league. The talented defender has been linked with a host of clubs this summer and Liverpool are ready to step up in their pursuit of the 22-year-old defender.
According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Liverpool are keen to secure the defender’s services, who has a £51m release clause in his current contract with Sporting. But, the club are willing to accept a lower price in the region of £38m for Inacio.
Liverpool are yet to make their first signing of the summer under the Arne Slot era. Inacio is considered a key player by Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, but are willing to let the defender leave in this transfer window.
The 22-year-old defender appeared in 49 matches across all competitions last season and helped Sporting lift the Portuguese league title.
