Spain secured their second Olympic Gold in men’s football

Spain claimed their second Olympic gold in men’s football after a thrilling 5-3 victory over host nation France in the 2024 Paris Olympics final. The match which went into extra time, saw Spain finally avenge their loss from the last edition of the Games.

The Spanish team led by young star Sergio Camello proved too strong for Thierry Henry’s French side. Camello, who is playing for Rayo Vallecano became the hero of the night by scoring the decisive goal in the first half of extra time, cleverly chipping the ball over French goalkeeper Guillaume Restes.

This victory marks Spain’s first Olympic gold in men’s football since their triumph at the 1992 Barcelona Games, where Kiko’s late goal sealed their win.
