Lisandro Martinez receives Argentina call-up for March international friendlies
The Argentine defender has been sidelined for the majority of the campaign with a knee injury that kept him out for several months this season.
Martinez made his imminent return back in January and managed to play only three games before suffering a knee injury against West Ham United on February 4.
The 26-year-old defender delved into a challenge against Vladimir Coufal and won but Coufal’s entire body weight came crashing against his knee.
United officially confirmed that Lisandro Martinez will be out for eight weeks due to a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee.
Man United‘s defensive record has taken a major setback since the absence of the World Cup-winning defender but he’s on course to make his comeback in the first week of April.

Manager Erik Ten Hag was frustrated after knowing the extent of the defender’s injury.
Erik ten Hag said: “It doesn’t look good. There is a bad concern. We have to wait for a few days for the diagnosis.
“He is very sad, very disappointed. We all feel really with him. First of all, it is a personal disaster when it is really bad, but also for the team it is really bad because he definitely brings us a lot.”
But now Argentina has called up the defender to possibly take part in the upcoming international friendlies against El Salvador and Costa Rica despite the player still recovering from a knee injury.
According to reports, United have given the green light to allow Lisandro Martinez to participate in the friendlies in the United States.
The defender could be in a good position to make a comeback in United’s first match after the international break against Brentford on March 30.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount has returned to training on Tuesday after being out for four months with a calf injury.
