Lisandro Martinez picks Manchester United over Argentina, cuts short USA tour
Manchester United centre-half Lisandro Martinez reportedly cut his stay in the United States to return to Manchester. The Argentinian is preparing himself fully for the Brentford game, expecting he will be given an opportunity to get his feet back on the ground.
Lisandro Martinez has been out since February due to his collateral ligament damage. Manager Erik Ten Hag revealed that Lisandro, alongside Casemiro have been spending time on grass for all this time but still expecting the exact date for a return.

Lisandro Martinez spend more time on recovering from injury
The 26-year old player had only played 10 league games for United this season, eight in the league the rest are one match each in the Champions League and FA Cup. Since being sidelined due to this injury, he has missed 10 games for the Red Devils.
Howver, this is not the first time he has suffered from injury at Manchester United. In September 2023, he suffered a foot injury which made him undergo medical treatment until January 4, exactly a month before this ligament crisis.
Rio Ferdinand expresses concern over Lisandro Martinez situation
Before that in June 2023, Martinez had a fracture on his metatarsal, allowing him to spend 77 days for treatment. Former United player Rio Ferdinand said in an interview that it was a huge blow whenever Martinez got injured.
“I think it is a big, big, big loss,” Ferdinand said responding to Lisandro’s injury news in February. “I think as soon as he [Martinez] comes back you’ll see the stability.
“I think him and Luke Shaw on the left-hand side bring huge stability. I think Luke Shaw now has to stay fit. If he gets injured now as well, it would be a huge problem for Man United.”
Martinez is not the only expected-to-return name for United within weeks. Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho who played against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter final, are also reported to be fit again. Bruno had a cramp while Garnacho was dealing with his hamstring issue. But nothing is serious about their condition as they are expected to be ready when United lock horns with Brentford.
