Lionel Messi out for Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup match against Tigres
Injury Update: Lionel Messi Recovery Progress
Lionel Messi will miss Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup match against Tigres on Saturday despite improvements in his injury status.
Inter Miami coach Gerardo Martino confirmed that Messi, who suffered a right ankle ligament injury during the Copa America final last month, is still on the mend.
The 37-year-old Argentine striker played a crucial role in Argentina’s victory over Colombia, but his recovery is ongoing.
Martino noted that Messi is no longer wearing a walking boot a positive sign of his progress. But, he has not yet joined his teammates for practice. Rather Messi continues to work with trainers to heal his injury fully.

Inter Miami’s Strong Performance Without Messi
In Messi’s absence, Inter Miami has shown remarkable resilience. Over the past two months, the team has won seven out of eight matches without their star player.
Messi, who joined Inter Miami last year significantly boosted the team, helping them secure the trophy in the inaugural Leagues Cup.
The Leagues Cup is a World Cup-style event featuring teams from MLS and Mexico’s Liga MX. It has group stages with three teams each.
The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout rounds. Both, Miami and Tigres have already secured their spots in the 32-club knockout round, making Saturday’s match a fight for better seeding rather than survival.
As Messi continues his recovery Inter Miami, fans remain hopeful for his return while the team aims to maintain its strong performance in the Leagues Cup.
