Will Lionel Messi Play Against Cavalier S.C in the CONCACAF Champions Cup?

Lionel Messi is enjoying his time at Inter Miami and is not only an active participant but also a key player in the team. Inter Miami Coach Javier Mascherano confirmed that Lionel Messi will be traveling with the squad to Jamaica where they will face Cavalier S.C. in the second leg of the Round Of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Lionel Messi missed the previous three matches due to ” load management” which the coach explained.

Javier Mascherano explained that their 2025 campaign kicked off with three matches in seven days which might be too much for Messi. Hence, Messi did not get any playing time however he is set to either start or get some playing time coming on as a substitute.

The Inter Miami squad will travel to Jamaica on Wednesday to follow CONCACAF protocols. They have the majority of their squad available with Maxi Falcon and Lionel Messi returning as well. Inter Miami are going into this game with a 2-0 lead which they attained in the first leg at Chase Park. Javier Mascherano also had a minor concern about the field conditions at SC Cavalier’s stadium in Jamaica however he did brush them off eventually giving the statement that :

“At the end, obviously we prefer if the field is good, better for us for the way that we play. But anyway, we have to play in the condition that the field is.”

Should Inter Miami progress further, they will face MLS team LA Galaxy in the quarter-finals, a match in which Lionel Messi will be needed.

Javier Mascherano’s Statement on Lionel Messi and the Upcoming Match

“Leo Messi is on the roster and will travel with the team to Jamaica,”

“Tomorrow we will decide for the game what is best, if he starts or waits on the bench and comes in later. “Today he trained with the team, and the sensations were good. We’re happy he’ll travel with us to Jamaica.”

“We know that tomorrow we are going to play a tough game for us. It’s a game that is very important, not just for this week but for the season because we had the chance to through to the quarterfinals.”
