The match ended in a stalemate after two added-time penalties were awarded in a game which was dominated by Leeds United. Defender Pascal Struijk opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes. Marlon Pack for Portsmouth levelled the scoring in the 23rd minute. Before half-time both the teams scored again leading to a 2-2 score line.
Leeds dominated the match but the opposition was solid enough to defend. The match ended dramatically after Leeds scored in the added time before Portsmouth was leading after Callum Lang netted his second goal from the spot.
