Lamine Yamal will miss Barcelona’s pre-season tour in United States
The Barcelona prodigy became the youngest player to win the European Championship after Spain beat England 2-1 in the finals. The teenager was undoubtedly one of the standout players in the tournament.
His stunning goal against France in the semi-final has been named the Goal of the Tournament in Euro 2024. At the same time, Yamal became the youngest player to ever score in a European Championship.
He was also included in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament after playing a key role in securing Spain’s fourth European Championship trophy. But the youth sensation is expected to miss Barcelona’s entire pre-season tour in the United States.
Why will Lamine Yamal miss Barcelona’s pre-season tour?
The youngster has returned to Barcelona after a stellar international campaign with Spain in Germany this summer. Barcelona’s pre-season games is set to take place in less than two weeks.
The Barcelona board has rested Yamal for three weeks after winning the Euro 2024 with Spain and he will miss the United States pre-season tour. But the teenager is expected to be available for the Joan Gamper Trophy against AS Monaco and the La Liga opener against Valencia early next month.
His absence from the pre-season tour would not hurt Barcelona financially as most tickets have already been sold out. Superstars like Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gündogan are enough to attract sponsors and fans.
