La Liga Top Scorers 2024/25: Lewandowski Leads the Golden Boot Race

The 94th edition of the Spanish top division is resuming after a short international break. All teams in the La Liga have played their first eleven games already. Now, the business is getting serious. So far, apart from a few shockers, all things are proceeding at their expected pace.

The big three of the league – FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid are the top three in La Liga 2024-25 table, in the exact order. FC Barcelona have started their season with a bang, winning eleven and two defeats. Defending champions Real Madrid did succumb with three draws, but have won the other eight and are standing at spot two. Atlético de Madrid, with seven wins, five draws, and 1 defeat.

Athletic Club Bilbao is also doing fine, with 20 points in 13 games, standing in sixth position. But things are not that good for the other biggies- Girona (at 10), Sevilla (at 13), and Valencia in the relegation zone (20).

So much drama has happened in the La Liga, with 254 games played so far. And a majority of these happened for the high number of goals we have witnessed so far. Till now, 319 goals have already been scored, averaging at 1.25 goals per game, most coming from the La Liga giants. While the average looks a little low from last season (1005 goals, averaging 2.64 per game), we might expect a bit more now, with the big games lined up.

On that note, let’s have a look at the La Liga top scorers this season so far:

1. Robert Lewandowski (14 goals)

The veteran striker is finally cooking well in the FC Barcelona squad, ever since his entry in July 2022. Now playing under his former coach at Bayern Munich, the No. 9 is ticking all the boxes at Barca.

Though the ace forward has always been among the La Liga top scorers, his impact in the Barca style of play has often been of not much need. But now, under Hansi Flick, his approach seems to have changed. He perfectly fits into the system, and not only does the job of a finisher but also helps other players score.

Lewa has started in all games for FC Barcelona in the Spanish top tier this season, scoring 12 goals already, along with two assists. He has contributed to 43% of the 28 goals the Cules have struck so far.

2. Vinicius Junior (8 goals)

After being snubbed at the Ballon d’Or and a quiet night at El Classico, the Brazilian winger made a strong comeback in his last league game against Osasuna where he scored a hat-trick and moved to the 2nd position behind Lewandowski.

3. Ayoze Perez & Raphinha (7 goals each)

The 31-year-old Spaniard came to this transfer window for just 4 million Euros from Real Betis. And, he has been a true bargain for Villarreal. Perez appeared in the first seven games, before missing out in the last two, starting in only four games. He got only 51% of the total minutes the club played, and in this minimal time, he managed to be among the top scorers in La Liga 2024/25.

The striker often comes as a substitute striker and strike-winner. He has been among the most effective forwards in the minimal time he plays. He even has goals against giants FC Barcelona.

Raphinha has been one of the top performers this season, he not only is among the La Liga top scorers but has also provided the highest number of assists.

3. Kylian Mbappe and Ante Budimir (6 goals each)

Kylian Mbappe after a quiet start in the first three games, the French striker has regained his form and has been scoring goals for the Real Madrid team. He played in ten games as of now, scoring six goals. Ante Budimir has been in fine form for his side Osasuna in the La Liga and has been a key player for them with most of their goals coming from him.
