Real Madrid
Los Blancos remain at the top of the table after their 2-2 draw against Valencia at the Mestalla. They found themselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes but restored parity due to a brace from Vinicius Jr.
Los Blancos thought they had scored a winner in stoppage time via Jude Bellingham’s header. But referee Gil Manzano controversially blew the full-time whistle just before the cross was delivered and disallowed the goal.
Girona
Girona retained their second position in the La Liga table but surprisingly lost 1-0 against Mallorca away from home. Jose Manuel Copete’s 33rd-minute goal helped 15th-placed Mallorca to stay eight points above the relegation zone.
Girona, meanwhile, are seven points behind leaders Real Madrid.
Barcelona
Barcelona dropped points again in a goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao at the San Mames stadium. They failed to gain points on leaders Real Madrid and second-placed Girona.
Moreover, they were also dealt a huge blow as Frenkie de Jong and Pedri suffered significant injuries.
Atletico Madrid
Atletico overcame a run of one win in five games to beat Real Betis 2-1 at home. Rui Silva’s own goal and Alvaro Morata’s goal secured all three points for them despite William Carvalho getting one back for Betis.
Atletico are a further three points behind Barcelona and got a big boost in their hopes for the top four.
Athletic Club
Athletic Bilbao were unable to get past the Barcelona challenge at home but managed to hold them to a draw to gain one point. They are five points behind Atletico Madrid in the race for the top four.
