Kostas Tsimikas declares his leaving with a peculiar transfer message
Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas has been the subject of interest with a move away from Anfield this summer. His last season under former manager Jurgen Klopp was a tough one as Tsimikas struggled for game time.
He was way down the pecking order despite Andy Robertson being out on the sidelines for a brief spell. It was Joe Gomez who turned up in the absence of the Scottish international.
But why is the ‘Greek Scouser’ linked with an exit?
Liverpool is currently in the United States for their pre-season and secured a 1-0 win over Real Betis in their first game of the tour. Adrian completed a free transfer to Real Betis this summer and was seen with specialized gifts for two of his closest friends from Liverpool, Kostas Tsimikas and Mo Salah.
The 37-year-old veteran cheekily presented both players with a Real Betos shirt with both Salah and Tsimikas’ names and numbers printed on the back, as a token of their long-term friendship.
Tsimikas burst out into laughter before saying ‘I’m leaving’ into the camera but we don’t expect the defender to move to Spain anytime soon. Andy Robertson is still struggling with a knock and will be in consideration after the US Tour whereas Joe Gomez is yet to return following his disappointing Euro 2024 campaign.
Tsimikas who signed a contract last summer will be hoping for more game time this season under new manager Arne Slot.
