Juventus sack Thiago Motta and appoint Igor Tudor after poor run of form
In a sudden turn of events, Italian giants Juventus have sacked their head coach Thiago Motta and have handed the reins to Igor Tudor until the end of the season. Thiago’s sacking comes after a series of disappointing performances from Juventus across various competitions, including a Champions League exit to Dutch side PSV.
The club released a statement which read, “Juventus FC announces that it has relieved Thiago Motta of his position as coach of the men’s first team. Juventus FC also announces that it has entrusted the leadership of the men’s first team to Igor Tudor, who will direct the first training session tomorrow.”
Juventus under Thiago Motta
Thiago Motta was handed over the hot seat at the Allianz Stadium in the summer of 2024. Motta put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the record Italian champions after helping Bologna qualify for the Champions League in the 2023-24 campaign.
Juventus remained undefeated in 21 league games but were never in the title race. Recent defeats to Atalanta and Fiorentina were the trigger points behind Motta’s departure.
The Bianconeri have been highly inconsistent in the Serie A this season and have even struggled to remain within the top four. They have accumulated 52 points from 13 wins and draws each along with three defeats. Juventus just played a lot more draws than they should have and failed to convert these draws into wins.
