Jurgen Klopp on De Zerbi coaching style, “I couldn’t coach that.”
Reporters asked Jurgen Klopp on De Zerbi and his Brighton side in the Reds manager’s press conference ahead of the Liverpool vs Brighton Premier League tie on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp on De Zerbi and his time at Brighton, “ It has only got better.”
In his press conference ahead of Liverpool’s tie against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp was quick to heap praises on De Zerbi and his time at Brighton. Referring to his first battle against the Brighton manager, Jurgen Klopp on De Zerbi, “We were the first opponents when Roberto arrived and we had no idea what to expect. It was quite impressive how quickly he got the team playing in his way. Since then it only got better.”
Klopp’s Liverpool has faced de Zerbi’s Brighton four times since the gaffer’s arrival. Shockingly, in those four clashes, Liverpool hasn’t managed to win any while Brighton has clinched victory twice. Last season, Brighton even stunned the Reds by knocking them out in the 4th round of the FA Cup by defeating them 2-1. When the two sides met earlier this season, the Reds managed to salvage a 2-2 draw away from home against the mighty Seagulls. However, Jurgen Klopp looked hopeful of managing to secure three points against Brighton given their recent dip in form.

When asked about De Zerbi’s coaching style, Jurgen Klopp said, “The way they play, I couldn’t coach that. It goes against my personality, but it’s a good watch. It’s very demanding on the players.” However, Klopp seemed positive about the fixture and said, “On their day, they can beat any team. But the good news is we can do that as well.” It won’t be an easy battle for the Reds given their long injury list, but they will also be aware of the absence of key players for Brighton as well.
Liverpool take on Brighton on a weekend where they could go clear at the top of the table as their rivals Arsenal and Man City face each other on Sunday in the Premier League as well. Liverpool currently are in 2nd place, at par with Arsenal who are in 1st place in the Premier League table. A win for Klopp’s Reds and a draw or a loss for Arsenal in the battle against City would be enough for Liverpool to secure 1st place. In their way, however, stand the mighty Seagulls. An exciting weekend awaits Premier League fans all around.
