BREAKING: Jurgen Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the current season
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the current season. This will bring an end to his nearly nine-year-long spell managing the Reds.
The German delivered a statement via Liverpool’s official social media accounts, which was later confirmed by various journalists including Fabrizio Romano.
In his video statement, Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that his decision would come as a shock to many.
“I will leave the club at the season. I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment when you hear it for the first time. But obviously, I can explain it, or at least try to explain it.”
Klopp then spoke about his admiration for everything about Liverpool and its supporters. However, he reiterated his personal desire to take a step away from the club.
“I love absolutely everything about this club. I love everything about the city. I love everything about our supporters. I love the team. I love the staff. I love everything.
“That I still take this decision shows you that I’m convinced it’s the one I have to take. It is that I am… How can I say this? I’m running out of energy. I have known for a while I will have to announce at one point.
“I am absolutely fine now but I know I cannot do the job again, and again and again.”
Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool in October 2015 as a replacement for outgoing manager Brendan Rodgers. Within a couple of years, the German had his team playing with a peculiar high-pressing style. He then added vital pieces to the squad and helped them win major silverware.
During his time with the Reds, Klopp has won one Champions League title, one Premier League title, one FA Cup, one EFL Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.
Having delivered every trophy Liverpool competed for, Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool believes his time at the club has now come to an end.
