Jude Bellingham escapes the one-match ban following his provocative gesture in Slovakia game
Jude Bellingham can still play against Switzerland in the Euro 2024 quarter final despite having a disciplinary call from the UEFA following his controversy. After scoring the equaliser against Slovakia, the Real Madrid midfielder showed an X-rated gesture as if he was cupping his genitals.
The gesture was taken as offensive for some people and the UEFA have taken a serious action towards his gesture. A gesture which according to him was not meant to offend anyone.
“An inside joke gesture towards some close friends who were at the game,” he said via Sky Sports. “Nothing but respect for how that Slovakia team played tonight.”

What has been a relief for England fans around the world was Bellingham escaped the one-match ban owing to this issue. Goal wrote that the suspension will only be activated if in the future, Bellingham shows a similar behaviour.
“Charges against English Football Association player Jude Bellingham: to fine the English Football Association player Jude Bellingham €30,000 and to suspend him for a total of one UEFA competition match for which he would be otherwise eligible for violating the basic rules of decent conduct,” UEFA stated on their official release. “Said suspension is not immediately enforced and is subject to a probationary period of one (1) year, starting from the date of the present decision.”
England are scheduled to face Switzerland in the quarter final after a breath-taking dramatic game against Slovakia. The Swiss on the other hand, secured the big 8 round after eliminating the defending champions Italy with a 2-0 victory.
