Jose Mourinho to Manchester United? Portuguese gaffer wants second chance: Reports
With Manchester United entering the season after finishing in the top four, a lot was expected from the club but instead things haven’t quite gone to plan. The Red Devils currently sit eighth on the Premier League table and their hopes of playing Champions League football have long faded. Not only that, their recent run of form has put their hopes of European football in jeopardy.
The club have won two of their last ten league games, a run that includes six winless games with big losses to Crystal Palace, Manchester City and Chelsea. It has seen Erik ten Hag’s future placed in doubt with many wondering whether the Dutch manager will still be managing the club going forward. Yet while Ten Hag’s future continues to be up in the air, reports have indicated that the club are already looking at options.
Jose Mourinho to Manchester United?
Amidst those rumours, the Manchester Evening News has reported that Jose Mourinho is hoping that the club would give him a second chance. The Portuguese manager spent a little over two years at the club between 2016 and 2018 before being sacked in December 2018. However, while he did win several trophies during his spell, Mourinho also ostracised the squad and the fans from him.
That, amongst other reasons, is why reports have indicated that the Red Devils are not looking to reappoint the former AS Roma and Inter Milan boss. Yet while Mourinho reportedly knows this, the Manchester Evening News has further added that the two-time Champions League would walk to Manchester if he got the chance.
Furthermore, Mourinho does have a good relationship with United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe although reports indicate that the British billionaire has other managers in mind.
