Early Life
Born in Rotterdam on March 7, 2006, Hato moved from his hometown to Ajax in 2018 in order to pursue his footballing dream and enrolled himself at Ajax’s youth setup in order to begin his journey with the aim to secure top level football at one of the most prestigious footballing institutions in the world. Interestingly, Hato is of Curacaoan, Cape Verdean and Dutch descent.

Sparta Rotterdam
Since childhood, Hato was playing in Sparta Rotterdam’s youth setups and was impressing coaches and scouts alike. However, he knew that in order to make it big in the Netherlands and eventually in Europe, he needs to achieve the dream to play for Ajax and so in 2018, he moved to Amsterdam.
Jong Ajax and Ajax
At Jong Ajax, Hato made his debut in November 2022 away against FC Dordrecht as a second-half substitute. He continued to impress and rise in stature at youth level, which eventually led to a senior-team call-up on January 11, 2023, before making his Eredivisie debut in February, 2023.
On October 11, 2023, he was named by English newspaper ‘The Guardian’ as one of the best players born in 2006 worldwide.

International career
Hato made his debut for the Netherlands’ U-16 team in 2021. He performed so well that he eventually captained that team in 2022. Seeing his impressive rise, the Netherlands’ football association ensured that Hato was called up to the senior squad for UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying matches against Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar on 18 and 21 November 2023, respectively. He made his debut as a half-time substitution for Virgil Van Dijk against Gibraltar.
