West Ham boss David Moyes provides the latest update on Jarrod Bowen’s injury
The Hammers forward Jarrod Bowen suffered a nasty hip injury in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Wolves but the crucial victory was overshadowed by Bowen’s significant injury scare.
The 27-year-old English forward has been in sensational form for West Ham this season scoring 15 goals in 31 Premier League appearances as well as providing five assists in the process.
But Bowen limped off early in the second half after a clash with Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina and went straight down the tunnel for further treatment.
The forward has been widely expected to make an impact for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions in the Euros in Germany but his recent injury will be a huge blow for both his club and country.
West Ham boss David Moyes hopes Bowen’s injury isn’t serious ahead of this week’s quarter-final clash with Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.
“We’ve got to hope he’s OK,” Moyes said. “We need all our top players.
“He’s had a knee into his hip or back. It’s not a twist. He said he’s got kneed and he’s really stiff. I’ve had one or two of those myself and they don’t go away too quick. I’m hoping it won’t be too bad.”

Will Jarrod Bowen be available for the Europa League clash against Bayer Leverkusen?
The 27-year-old forward has been one of the consistent performers in the Premier League this season who was subbed off early in the second half against Wolves after he was kneed from behind by Joao Gomes.
Bowen couldn’t continue at the Molineux and was replaced by Aaron Creswell in the 54th minute. The Hammers will be traveling to Germany for their highly-anticipated Europe League clash against Bayer Leverkusen who are flying in the Bundesliga.
Depending on the extent of the injury, the England international would be in a race against time for this crucial tie against Xabi Alonso’s men and a serious injury will have huge consequences at this stage of the season. It would be concerning for David Moyes who has relied on the former Hull City winger throughout this campaign.
It will also give Gareth Southgate a headache ahead of this summer’s European Championships in Germany.
The Hammers are comfortably in the hunt for European qualification this season and level on points with sixth-placed Manchester United at seventh in the league table.
