Inter Milan 2–2 (Agg: 4–3) Bayern Munich Player Ratings: Serie A Giants Play Out Thrilling Draw Against Fighting Bavarians to Book Place in UCL Semis
Inter Milan played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinals at the San Siro Stadium on April 16, 2025. Harry Kane’s opening goal early in the second half was cut out by Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard’s goals, as Eric Dier’s goal could not prove to be enough for the Bavarians to turn around the result, as the Nerazzurri progressed 4-3 on aggregate.
Bayern Munich showcased nice energy from the get-go in their attempts to get an early goal, with the hosts happy to hit them on the counter-attack. Thomas Muller had his side’s first attempt on target in the sixth minute as his close-range effort was saved well by Yan Sommer. The Nerazzurri threatened Bayern on the counter-attack three minutes later, when Marcus Thuram laid a pass for Federico Dimarco to shoot at Jonas Urbig.
Both sides pushed at each other after that, but ended up cancelling themselves out in key areas. Inter almost scored through a set-piece in the 29th minute when Dimarco’s cross was guided wide by Francesco Acerbi. Hakan Calhanoglu also blasted a shot wide four minutes later from outside the area. Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane both had shots from close range blocked in the 36th minute, before Joshua Kimmich and Sane saw efforts on goal saved before half-time.
The game, however, really started to pick up after the first half. The visitors explosively started the second half, taking the lead in the 52nd minute after a slick close-range finish from Harry Kane. Inter, however, were not threatened by that. They bit back with a clinical finish from Lautaro Martinez in the 58th minute. The hosts then completed the comeback with a thunderous header from Benjamin Pavard in the 61st minute.
Inter were more than happy to sit back after that, allowing Bayern to push at them. Michael Olise shockingly guided a shot wide from close range in the 75th minute, but Eric Dier scored a nice header to make it 2-2 in the 76th minute.
Bayern kept pushing and had two big chances in stoppage time, with Harry Kane shooting over the bar in the 91st minute before Kingsley Coman missed a big chance by shooting at Sommer in the 97th minute. Inter somehow held on to book a place in the Champions League semi-finals against Barcelona. Here are the Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich Player Ratings.
