Inter Milan Fans Burning Ibrahimovic Shirt
While commemorating the team’s 20th Scudetto on Monday night at Piazza Duomo, a few Inter supporters set fire to an Ibrahimovic Milan shirt.
Sportitalia released the footage, and Milannews posted it to X—the former Twitter platform.
Inter have just defeated their local rivals 2-1 at Stadio Meazza to win the 2023–24 Scudetto.
The former Inter and Milan striker Ibrahimovic made fun of the Nerazzurri in 2022 while the Rossoneri were celebrating their Serie A triumph. He specifically targeted the team’s key player, Hakan Calhanoglu.
How Inter Milan Won Their 20th League Title
Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram secured goals for the triumphant Nerazzurri, while Fikayo Tomori managed a consolation goal for AC Milan.
The victory not only secured Inter Milan’s latest Scudetto but also highlighted their dominance in the 2023-24 season, where they have suffered only one defeat and hold a commanding 17-point lead over their closest contenders, AC Milan.
The clash between the Milan giants was not without its tensions, as three red cards were shown during stoppage time, adding to the intensity of the rivalry.
The burning of Ibrahimovic’s shirt carries symbolic weight, given the Swedish striker’s history with both Inter and AC Milan.
Ibrahimovic, who previously played for both clubs, notably taunted Inter during AC Milan’s Serie A title celebrations in 2022, particularly targeting Inter’s star player, Hakan Calhanoglu.
Inter Milan’s latest triumph marks a return to the summit of Italian football after a brief hiatus, having last clinched the league title in the 2020-21 season. Their victory now places them second in the all-time Serie A title tally, trailing behind Juventus, who boasts 36 titles.
With the tradition of awarding a star for every 10 Serie A titles won, Inter’s achievement of securing their 20th title brings them closer to the prestigious three-star mark currently held solely by Juventus.
