Why did Hull City sack Liam Rosenior?
Liam Rosenior had to leave the Championship side Hull City earlier despite his contractual obligations to the club. The Tigers failed to secure the play-off spot following a defeat to Plymouth a few days ago. The news is a bit surprising as the London-born manager was nominated for Manager of the Year.
Liam Rosenior Early Termination at Hull City
On paper, Rosenior should be still in charge of Hull until the summer of 2026. But the board saw differently about the future of the club and decided to terminate the deal faster than expected.
Commenting on Hull’s latest loss to Plymouth, Rosenior admitted that his side did not deserve the result. Hull finished seventh on the final table, collecting 70 points from 21 wins, 10 draws, and 15 losses.
“The energy and intensity they put into the game, they deserved their win overall,” Rosenior said. “Even though results didn’t go our way, we wanted to finish on a really positive note because that would have summed up the season.”
The 39-year old started his managerial journey with Brighton U23 as an assistant manager in August 2018 after retiring at the club. The following summer, he moved to Derby County, taking the role as an individual coach which lasted until January 2021.
Rosenior was promoted into assistant manager role for Derby, doing the role until the summer of 2022 where he gained another promotion as a caretaker manager. The latter role only lasted for five months as he agreed to manage Hull in November 2022.
