10. India vs England (2017)

England scored a mammoth total of 350/7 runs batting first. After Jason Roy, Joe Root and Ben Stokes scored half-centuries. It was a run-fest the English Lions thought they had the match after scoring such a huge score. But India had different ideas in the very 1st ODI of the series. India was down to 63/4 at one stage and from there, they successfully chased down the total with two overs to spear.
Then skipper Virat Kohli and Kedar Jhadav scored centuries. The former scored 122 runs off 105 deliveries and the latter scored 120 runs, leading India to yet another successful run chase in limited-overs cricket.

9. Australia vs England (2025)

England has been a completely transformed side in white-ball cricket. The Three Lions 2017 has been playing an aggressive brand of cricket in limited overs cricket. Under Brendon McCullum, they have been more aggressive across all formats of the game. It was visible in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. They scored a massive 351/8 in their 50 overs with Ben Duckett scoring 165 runs.
But his runs were all in vain after Australia chased down the target with 15 balls left. Josh Inglis’s fiery century helped the Kangaroos win their first Champions Trophy match since 2009. 8. Pakistan vs South Africa (2025)

Pakistan and South Africa faced in a tri-nation series ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy. The Proteas put up a huge score of 350 for three. Skipper Bavuma led the side with an 82-run knock while opening the batting. Matthew Breetzke scored an 83 off 84 balls. Heinrich Klaasen’s quickfire 87 off 56 deliveries helped the side to put up a score of 352/5.
While chasing the Men in Green were struggling for 91/3. Then a partnership of 260 runs between skipper Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha helped the side chase down their highest successful total in the ODI format. Previously they chased down 349 runs against Australia. Rizwan and Salman both scored centuries. The captain went not out with the score of 122 runs and Salman Ali scored 134 runs.
7. Pakistan vs England (2019)

Pakistan after batting first scored 358/8 in the first innings. They were reduced to 27/2, but opener Imam-ul-Haq hit a superb 151, and Asif Ali 52 off 43 helped the home side to score past 350 runs on a flat wicket. But England while chasing down the massive total started brilliantly they had an opening partnership of 159 runs, between Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy. The latter scored 76 runs and laid the foundation for the chase.
Bairstow had other ideas he scored a fiery 128 runs off 93 deliveries hitting 5 sixes and 15 fours in the innings and leading England to another successful run chase. This is their second successful run chase in ODI cricket.
6. India vs Australia (2019)

India while batting first got off to a sensational start to the innings. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan stitched a partnership of 193 runs for the first wicket. Before the former went back to the pavilion scoring 93 runs. Shikhar scored a brilliant 143 runs. This led India to set up a massive total of 359 runs against the Aussies. Australia got off to a horrible start.
They lost their then-captain Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh early on in the innings. But Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb stitched an excellent partnership of 192 runs. This sealed the base with a fiery knock of 84 off 43 deliveries by Ashton Turner helping the Kangaroos to chase down their highest-ever successful target in ODI format.
5. India vs Australia (2013)

Australia while batting first scored 359 runs against a clueless Indian bowling attack. Their first three batters Aaron Finch Phillip Hughes and Shane Watson set the platform with three half-centuries. George Bailey and Glenn Maxwell then piled on the misery for the Indian bowling attack. The former captain scored 92 and Maxwell’s 53 off 32 balls helped them secure a massive target.
But India had other plans on the day. Yet again Rohit and Shikhar stitched a partnership of 176 runs laying the foundation of the chase. With ‘chase master’ Virat Kohli doing the rest with Rohit. The latter played an unbeaten knock of 141 runs and Kohli was also not out on 100 runs off 52 deliveries. Helping India to secure their best successful run chase in ODI.
4. West Indies vs England (2019)

Batting first the Windies scored 360/8. Chris Gayle scored a century and Shai Hope scored a fifty. Gayle scored 135 runs in the innings and Hope contributed with 64 runs. A quick-fire 25 off 8 deliveries of Ashley Nurse helped the home side to score a massive total in the game. England once again came with their opening firepower.
Opener Jason Roy and Joe Root scored centuries respectively. The former scored 123 runs off 85 balls helping in the run chase. With Root scoring 102 runs. The Three Lions achieved their highest successful run chase in the ODI with 8 balls to spear.
3. South Africa vs Australia (2016)

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. With David Warner and then skipper Steve Smith scoring centuries for the side. The Aussies thought they had enough on the board scoring 371/6. But the home side South Africa had other ideas once again against the Kangaroos. They chased down the target of 372 runs with 4 balls remaining.
The Proteas had a decent start to the innings. But later on, when it was looking impossible to chase David Miller’s 118 off 79 balls helped the side win the game with four wickets in hand. This was the second-highest run chase in ODI by South Africa.
2. Netherlands vs West Indies (2023)

In the ICC World Cup 2023 qualifying match at the Harare Stadium, Zimbabwe, West Indies after being invited to bat first scored a huge total of 374/9 in the 50-overs. With Openers Johnson Charles and Brandon King scoring half-centuries. A fiery knock of 104 off 65 balls from Nicholas Pooran helped them set the mammoth target.
But the Dutch had other ideas they also scored 374/9 tying the match and it has been recorded as a successful chase due to the Dutch winning the game in the super over. This is recorded as the second-highest successful run chase in ODI.

Australia after winning the toss elected to bat first. But who would have thought that they would then score the highest-ever total in ODI cricket. The Aussies scored 434/4. Three Aussie batters Adam Gilchrist, Simon Katich, and Mike Hussey scored half-centuries. With Ricky Ponting playing a knock of 164 runs helping the Kangaroos set up the big total.
But the Proteas made the impossible possible by chasing down the target of 435 runs, which is also the highest-ever run chase in ODI cricket.
