Harry Kane missed a big chance for Bayern in a 3-2 loss to Vfl Bochum

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane missed a big chance during their 3-2 loss to Vfl Bochum on Saturday. The Bavarians crashed to a second consecutive defeat in the Bundesliga and now trail runaway leaders Bayer Leverkusen by a massive eight points.

The game was marred by defensive shortcomings as Thomas Tuchel’s side relinquished their early lead to concede thrice. Kane, who has taken the German top flight by storm, uncharacteristically missed a glorious chance in the match.

Minutes after Jamal Musiala put Bayern 1-0 up, Kane came in with a stupendous chance to double their advantage. Musiala laid a delightful outside-of-the-boot through ball for the Englishman, who had the goal gaping in front of him. Yet, the former Tottenham Hotspur hitman contrived to blaze his shot over the bar in a terrible miss.

Bochum eventually scored thrice, so it may not have mattered, but it would’ve given Bayern a solid momentum early on. Harry Kane’s goal eventually did find the net, in the 87th minute with an easy finish, but it was too little too late.

Bayern next play RB Leipzig at home in the Bundesliga on 24 February. The sides have already clashed twice this season, with the Bavarians not finishing on the winning side in either. They lost 3-0 to the Red Bulls in the DLF Supercup back in August, followed by a 2-2 league draw in September. Another setback here might virtually end their title hopes as Bayern’s 11-year-long dominance seems to be heading to an end.
