Hansi Flick demands more after Barcelona beat Real Madrid
Criticism despite victory by Hansi Flick
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick wasn’t entirely happy with his team’s 2-1 pre-season friendly win over Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium on Saturday. Although Barca turned out to be on the winning side, Flick still expects a better performance from his players.
Pau Victor was the star of the match scoring both goals with Alex Valle playing a key role in the attacks. This win marked Barcelona’s second consecutive victory in their pre-season tour of the United States following their triumph over Manchester City.
While Hansi Flick saw room for improvement as he said:
“In some situations, we sank too deep and didn’t put pressure on the opposing player who had the ball. That cannot be and it is a problem.”
Flick emphasized the need for constant pressure throughout the game reflecting the modern coaching style from Germany.

Young Talent and Future Matches
Flick also praised the young players in the squad noting,
“We have players who are 16, 17, 18 years old, and it is fantastic to have them here.”
Pau Victor who has been impressive with three goals in two games is seen as a potential successor to Robert Lewandowski. Flick further added saying:
“Two games, three goals. Not bad at all. The door to the first team is always open.”
Looking ahead, Barcelona will travel to Baltimore to face AC Milan at the M&T Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening. Flick hopes to see continued improvement and maintain the winning streak as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
