5. Christian Pulisic [USA]

Christian Pulisic had so far scored one goal for the USA in his two matches for the nation in the ongoing Copa America 2024. His goal came in USA’s 2-0 win over Bolivia in their opening Group C fixture. The winger gave his side an early lead by netting inside the first five minutes of the game.

However, Pulisic wasn’t able to work his magic for the USA in their second Group C match against Panama, where his side lost 2-1. He is expected to play a crucial role for his team in their final group-stage fixture when they take on Uruguay in a match that may well decide their fate in terms of qualification for the next round of the quarterfinals.

4. Folarin Balogun [USA]

Folarin Balogun has certainly chipped in with crucial contributions for the USA in the ongoing Copa America. The 22-year-old center-forward has shown dynamism in his style of play and looks willing to chase lost causes on the field as well. Balogun has two goals to his name in the tournament till now. He scored in the USA’s win over Bolivia and also netted in the first half of the match they lost against Panama.

3. Lautaro Martinez [Argentina]

Lautaro Martinez has scored twice for Argentina in the ongoing Copa America 2024. He netted in La Albiceleste’s 2-0 win over Canada in their opening fixture of the tournament. He then again scored for his country in their narrow 0-1 win over Chile.

What stood out in his goals was both of them came during the closing stages of the matches at about the 88th-minute mark. Argentina currently tops Group A and has qualified for the quarterfinals based on the mathematical permutations. He finds himself among the players on the list for Copa America 2024 Golden Boot standings.

2. Vinicius Jr. [Brazil]

Vinicius Jr. has entered the race for the Golden Boot after netting a brace in Brazil’s second Group D fixture against Paraguay. His heroics helped his side clinch a thumping 1-4 win. Brazil will face Colombia in their final group-stage match. They currently stand at the second spot in their group with four points in two games (consisting of a draw and a win). They are expected to qualify for the quarterfinals.

However, Brazil will need only a point against Colombia in order to qualify for the next round. Even if they lose, Costa Rica has to win their match against Paraguay with a handsome margin to trump Brazil in terms of the goal difference. A player like Vinicius Jr. could be the key for Brazil against Colombia, especially keeping in mind that the latter will play without any fear since they have already booked their spot in the quarterfinals after two back-to-back wins.

1. Darwin Nunez [Uruguay]

Darwin Nunez scored for Uruguay in their thumping 5-0 win over Bolivia in their initial Group C fixture for Copa America 2024. He then managed to net again when his side turned up against Panama and defeated them 3-1. The striker has looked in a goal-scoring knick recently.

Uruguay has played some very decent football in the tournament till now. They currently stand at the top of their group with two back-to-back wins and six points. Darwin Nunez certainly comes across as a player to watch out for in terms of Copa America 2024 Golden Boot standings.
