Germany Announce Squad Ahead of UEFA Nations League

Germany have announced their squad for the upcoming international break in which they are set to face Italy in a quarter-final clash in the UEFA Nations League. The UEFA Nations League quarter-finals promise many juicy and exciting fixtures with Germany vs Italy being one of them alongside Netherlands vs Spain, Croatia vs France and Denmark vs Portugal.

The San Siro will host the opening match on 20th March whilst the second leg will be played at Dortmund on 23rd March. Manager Julian Nagelsmann has announced the squad introducing some surprising inclusions in the squad.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team have performed incredibly well in the group stage of the Nations League. Germany were drawn in League A Group 3 alongside the Netherlands, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Die Mannschaft topped their group with 14 points and without any losses winning four games and drawing two.

A surprising but well-deserved addition to the squad is Mainz midfielder Nadiem Amiri who is back after almost five years. He last played for Germany’s national team against Czechia in November 2020. Nadiem Amiri is performing well for Mainz this season with six goals and four assists in 22 Bundesliga appearances.

Additionally, Karim Adeyemi has also been called up after three years who last represented Germany’s national team at the FIFA World Cup 2022. Although, Adeyemi has still made appearances for the U-21 German side in the prior international breaks. Leon Goretzka is also back after almost two years who last played for Germany’s national team in November 2023.

Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck makes his debut for Germany as the 24-year-old has established himself as a key player in Inter Milan’s line-up cementing his spot in the starting XI.
