Germany squad for UEFA EURO 2024: Who’s in and who’s out, Key players and Predicted lineup
What can you expect from Germany in Euro 2024?
Hosts Germany will kick off the Euro 2024 tournament with their game against Scotland on June 14. Die Nationalmannschaft have endured a rough spell since winning the World Cup in 2014.
After back-to-back World group-stage exits in 2018 and 2022, German fans will hope that the host nation makes a deep run into the tournament and restore its former glory on the international stage, after being unable to bring international honors since the 2014 World Cup.
Germany’s current squad isn’t as strong as Joachim Low’s World Cup-winning squad. There are serious questions about their offensive firepower. This is the first tournament that Germany has hosted since the 2006 World Cup.
Germany Euro 2024 Squad
The Die Nationalmannschaft are expected to bring home international honours this summer, despite their recent struggles on the international stage. Let’s take a peek into Julian Nagelsmann’s 26-man Euro 2024 squad!
Goalkeepers
World Cup winner and veteran Manuel Neuer is still Germany’s best goalkeeper. He remains crucial despite suffering a leg injury back in December 2022. Germany #1 was honored with the Best FIFA Goalkeeper Award in 2020.
However, if he gets injured, Germany will have Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who performed well in the 2022 World Cup.

Manuel Neuer | Bayern Munich |
Oliver Baumann | Hoffenheim |
Marc-Andre ter Stegen | Barcelona |
Defenders
2023/24 Champions League winner Antonio Rudiger will be aiming to replicate his club form on the international level. Joshua Kimmich will also bring his experience in the right-back position. Whether at right-back or centre-midfielder, he is a leader. Bundesliga winner Jonathan Tah, who has reportedly agreed to join Bayern Munich will be pairing with Rudiger in the heart of defence.
Experienced defender Mats Hummels is one surprise omission from the Germany squad.

Antonio Rudiger | Real Madrid |
Jonathan Tah | Bayer Leverkusen |

Midfielders
Toni Kroo’s return to international football has been one of the positive aspects for Germany this term. He’ll anchor the midfield with his club rival, Ilkay Gundogan. Nicolo Barella brings energy and goals (hopefully). Spalletti’s formation choice, whether 4-3-3 or 3-4-2-1, will determine the setup.
Aleksandar Pavlovic who had a breakout season with Bayern Munich could force his way into the midfield.
Player Name | Club |
Ilkay Gundogan | Barcelona |
Toni Kroos | Real Madrid |
Jamal Musiala | Bayern Munich |
Florian Wirtz | Bayer Leverkusen |
Aleksandar Pavlovic | Bayern Munich |
Robert Andrich | Bayer Leverkusen |
Pascal Gross | Brighton |
Chris Fuhrich | Stuttgart |
Forwards
Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller might be playing his final competition on the international stage. They have lacked a true No. 9 for many years, while their main striker, Timo Werne, missed the 26-man squad due to a late hamstring injury he sustained with Tottenham Hotspur in the latter part of the 2023/24 campaign.
Leroy Sane needs to find his club form if Germany are up to something. Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug is expected to lead the line, whereas Arsenal’s Kai Havertz could come into contention.

Predicted Lineup for Germany in Euro 2024
Germany are one of the favourites for Euro 2024 and their lineup looks quite promising. Let’s break down the expected XI.
Veteran goalkeeper and World Cup winner Manuel Neuer is the clear choice in front of goal despite being out for the majority of the season in 2023/24.
In defence, we can expect the usual four-man setup. Jonathan Tah and Antonio Rudiger will be key players in the heart of defence. Both Joshua Kimmich and David Raum would deploy in their full-back roles.
The midfield will have senior figures Ilkay Gundogan, Toni Kroos, and Thomas Mueller. The trio were part of the 2014 World Cup-winning squad. Robert Andrich who won the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen this season, has been in sensational form
Up front – Jamal Musiala and Floriaz will take their preferred wing positions. Gianluca Scamacca is in good form and is likely to lead the attack. Niclas Fullkrug, who has scored 11 goals in 16 appearances for the German national team, will lead the attack.
Germany XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Kimmich, Tah, Rudiger, Raum; Kroos, Andrich; Musiala, Gundogan, Wirtz; Fullkrug.
