Fulham 1–2 Chelsea Player Ratings: Chelsea Complete a Perfect Comeback After Conceding an Early Goal in Premier League

The Sunday Premier League matches start with Chelsea travelling to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in an afternoon fixture. Maresca’s side was looking forward to the 3 points while Silva’s Fulham had no intention of losing on their home turf. The game saw a stunning comeback after Chelsea was trailing 1-0 in the first half from an Alex Iwobi goal. However, late goals from Pedro Neto and Tyrique George seen the Blues make a comeback.

The 3-minute mark almost saw the first goal of this London Derby after a congestion in the Chelsea box, but the goal was called offside. By the 10th minute, the uncertainty of the match started to dial down as both team were seeing the ball on their feet equally.

In the 18th minute, Nicholas Jackson had a chance to give his team the lead, but he missed his chance after a bad first touch. A minute later, it was Alex Iwobi who scored the first goal of the match. A low-ball in the box met with a great first touch, after that, it was 1-0 in the blink of an eye.

The match went on with attacks back and forth from each side, with no promising chances created. After the normal 45 minutes, 1 minute was added as an additional time. Marc Cucurella almost had a chance to get one back for his team but it didn’t happen for Chelsea at all till the 1st half whistle.

The 2nd half started with a double substitution from Chelsea. However, while both teams were on the attacking front, no changes happened on the scoreboard even after the 70th-minute mark.

In the last 15 minutes of the match, Chelsea moved the ball with more intent. But after the substitutions from both side, Fulham seemed to have more control in the game.

The 83rd minute finally saw the equalizer from Chelsea as Tyrique George made it 1-1. After the normal 90 minutes, 6 additional minutes were added. In the 93rd minute, Pedro Neto’s stunner made it 1-2. A low cross in the box met with a sweet first touch, and then the thumping left-footed shot made it 1-2.

While Fulham tried their best to get one back, the final whistle sealed the deal for a Chelsea win.

LB- Antonee Robinson- 5.5/10

Lukic had the license to go further forward of the pitch. Linked up well with his teammates and as a result, Fulham was able to create more pocket spaces right outside the box after drawing in the Chelsea players to press. He was subbed off in the 71st minute.

By the 52nd minute, Ryan had maintained a 75% passing accuracy. He maintained 0.03 xA through the 17 touches he had so far in the game. Moreover, he won 4 out of his 5 ground duels by the 60th minute, indicating he was more focused on his defensive duties.

CAM- Andreas Pereira- 5.5/10

Pereira played by example in the London Derby today. He was very vocal with his team today, which made sure of discipline throughout the squad, and it is one of the strongest reasons why Fulham kept the Chelsea players at bay, especially in the first half.

LM- Alex Iwobi- 6/10

Alex was the star player for his team as usual. He was the one who scored the first goal of the match. His touch was sublime, and it allowed him to hit the ball with his left to give his team the lead. Other than the goal, he was one of the players on his team who saw the highest number of touches.

ST- Raúl Jiménez- 5.5/10

Jimenez was the perfect lone forward in the match today. He was seen helping his team with the build-up on multiple occasions. Moreover, he had maintained a 75% passing accuracy in the first half while having only 22 touches of the ball.

Sub- Harry Wilson- 4.5/10

GK- Robert Sánchez- 4.5/10

Sanchez showed promise throughout the game, especially in the first half. However, his reflexes in the afternoon were not quite there, especially in the first half. That being said, the goalkeeper was very vocal about the defense’s shortcomings in the match.

LB- Merc Cucurella- 5/10

As usual, Merc had been busy throughout the game. It was especially seen in the first half. The Spaniard almost had the chance to get one back for his team during the final minutes of the first half, but it did not happen for the left-back. He was booked in the later stages of the game.

CB- Levi Colwill- 5/10

After having a deficit in the first half, Colwill went forward multiple times to give his team the extra man in the midfield. However, on the 28th minute, he was booked with a yellow card after attempting to stop the Fulham build-up rather illegally. The booking followed up with a cautious approach for the rest of the match.

CB- Trevoh Chalobah- 5/10

Whole Chalobah had a solid presence in the defensive line for Chelsea, he was utterly disappointed when his team conceded the first goal out of nothing. The defender still rallied his teammates till the last minute.

RB- Reece James- 5.5/10

As expected, James took on a more midfield role in the game. The right-back quickly transitioned to the midfield every time Chelsea went forward. Had a lot of influence on Chelsea’s game this afternoon. It is clear that Maresca prefers him to play more in midfield. He was subbed off in the beginning of the 2nd half.

CM- Moises Caicedo- 6/10

Caicedo had a commendable presence in the midfield today. Won a lot of ground duels and had a solid positioning in the game as well. Made quite a few challenges and tactical fouls in the game that made sure of Chelsea’s dominance in the game.

CM- Enzo Fernandez- 5/10

Like the previous games, Enzo seemed invisible to Chelsea. The Argentine used to dictate the game from the midfield. However, recently he seems not to be on his best with and off the ball. Chelsea’s best performance comes when the Argentine is in his best form.

RM- Noni Madueke- 5.5/10

Madueke showed some amazing dribbling skills in the game, especially in the first half when he was seen taking defenders with his twinkle toes while moving the ball forward. However, his crosses in the box could use some improvement. He was taken off by Maresca at the beginning of the 2nd half.

CAM- Cole Palmer- 5.5/10

Palmer created a lot of spaces for his team off the ball. Moreover, he had a few great runs as well in the first half that did not see any end product. That being said, anytime he had the ball on his feet, it seemed as if something was going to happen.

LM- Pedro Neto- 5/10

In the first half, Neto saw very little with the ball. But that was because Chelsea were moving forward from the right flank. However, in the 31st minute, Pedro Neto made a stunning cross with his left foot from outside the box. However, his cross was not met by the touch of Jackson. Had a chance to score in the 55th minute, but his shot was saved. He made it 1-2 for his team in the additional minutes of the second half.

ST- Nicholas Jackson- 4/10

Jackson is nowhere near the number 9 that Chelsea should start with. From shooting to positioning, the forward lacks a lot of vision in the game. He should have given his team the lead before the 20th-minute mark. But the forward’s lack of awareness and horrible positioning made his teammates rather frustrated. The forward missed another chance in the 18th minute after a bad first touch.

Sub- Jadon Sancho- 5/10

Jadon came on for Chelsea at the beginning of the second half. He took the place of Noni Madueke, who went off as Enzo Maresca wanted a different approach to the game. Had a couple of goes ever since he came on for Chelsea.

Sub- Malo Gusto- 5/10

The wing-back came along with Jadon Sancho at the very beginning of the 2nd half. He came in as Reece James was taken off by the Chelsea manager. It seemed as if the manager was not willing to wait a single minute to change the course of the game. He was subbed off in the 88th minute.

Sub- Tyrique George- 4/10

George came onto the match in the 76th minute of the game. He took the place of Nicholas Jackson. Manager Maresca saw enough of the forward and decided to finally make the change. He turned out to be the super sub as his goal made it 1-1.

Sub- Tosin Adarabioyo- 4/10

Tosin came onto the match right after Malo Guston picked up a hamstring injury after the wing-back seemed to tussle it out with Adama Traore to win the ball.

Manager- Enzo Maresca- 6/10

Enzo was the happiest manager between the two. He made the right subs that made sure Chelsea got the win away from home. He seemed happy with his team.
