2 | James Maddison | Tottenham Hotspur | £7.5m | 102 | Leicester City |

5. Ismaila Sarr- Crystal Palace | 77 points | £5.8m
Ismaila Sarr had been tasked with the extremely difficult task of replacing Michael Olise for Crystal Palace. But it must be stated that he has done a really good job. After a slow start, the Senegalese attacker has taken to the dual #10 role alongside Ebere Eze in Oliver Glasner’s system. Although his 7 goal contributions might not paint the whole picture, he has arguably been Palace’s brightest player of the season. Expect some fireworks as Palace get ready to face a Brentford side who are known to struggle on the road.

4. Anthony Gordon – Newcastle | 90 points | £7.5m
Newcastle have been performing quite well recently. Although Alexander Isak may capture the majority of the attention, he has received excellent support from Anthony Gordon. The English winger has recorded 5 goals and 5 assists thus far this season in the league. He is also in fantastic form, making a goal contribution in 8 of his last 9 matches across all competitions. Gordon began the season rather sluggishly but has subsequently made a strong return to form. This weekend, Newcastle will face a defensively poor Southampton team, with Gordon expected to be a contributor to the scoring once more.
3. Yankuba Minteh – Brighton & Hove Albion | 47 points | £5.0m
Brighton are regularly lauded for their scouting department being one of the best in the world. The latest example of that is none other than Yankuba Minteh. The young winger is electric and has a bag of skills along with a lot of footballing intelligence. While numbers-wise, he has not exploded yet, but you can feel it coming sooner rather than later. But 3 goals and 3 assists are not too shabby. Brighton faces Everton this weekend, and the Toffees are really poor at defending down the wings. Minteh is fresh from scoring against Manchester United last weekend and will be raring to go again. It is always a sight to see him on song.
2. James Maddison – Tottenham Hotspur | 102 points | £7.5m
Spurs have been extremely poor in the league, especially recently, something that has seen them fall to 15th in the league. They need their big players to step up now, in particular James Maddison. This weekend, Spurs play against a very average Leicester City side, who haven’t been good in the Premier League. Maddison hasn’t been in great form, but he has scored 8 times and assisted 5 more so far this season. The problem is that none of these have come in the last 5 games. They will be hoping that he can bring his best game against his former side. The spurs desperately need something to go in their favour. Let us see whether Maddison can rise up in this hour of need and change anything.

1. Mo Salah – Liverpool | 211 points | £13.7m
Mo Salah has gained more points in Fantasy Premier League than any other player this season thus far, and this is not likely to alter in the foreseeable future. He was also the first player to exceed the 200 points mark this season. Salah’s reliability is remarkable, having delivered substantial returns nearly every time he has been on the pitch this season. He has already scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in Premier League this season, surpassing any other player at this point in the league’s history. He has surprisingly drawn two blanks in a row and this weekend, he will face Ipswich Town and hope to make an impact.
As we turn our attention to Gameweek 23, the Premier League has a thrilling set of fixtures lined up. The highlight of the weekend is the game between Manchester City and Chelsea. Both teams have been largely inconsistent this season but both are embroiled in a battle for the Champions League spots so it is going to be exciting.
The deadline for GW23 is on January 25th.
