Crystal Palace started the season quite poorly but it is fair to say that they have recovered very well. Right now they are chasing a top-half finish. Jean Phillipe Mateta was absolutely phenomenal at the end of last season but this time around he started poorly. But the Frenchman has now picked up the pace once again. He has 8 goals and an assist so far this season. In his last 3 games, he has found the back of the net 4 times. This weekend, Crystal Palace play Brentford at home. Brentford although a decent side, have really struggled on the road.

4. Cody Gakpo – Liverpool | 71 points | £7.4m

A massive amount of Liverpool’s attacking output this season has come through Mo Salah. But there have been others who have been contributing as the Reds have risen to the top of the table. Cody Gakpo is one of them. He has found the back of the net 6 times and assisted twice. But this is a really good time to bet on him. Diogo Jota is not fit and Arne Slot doesn’t seem to like Darwin Nunez’s skillset all that much. Liverpool’s next few fixtures are lovely to capitalise on as well. They play Ipswich this weekend, have a double gameweek of Bournemouth and Everton, followed by a game against Wolves.

3. Joao Pedro – Brighton | 78 points | £5.6m

Joao Pedro could prove to be a very captivating asset for Fantasy Premier League managers. The Brazilian, at just 23 years old, has already captained 2 English clubs. Following his transfer to Brighton, he has embraced a leadership position, with many of their attacking plays centered around him in every match. Despite Brighton experiencing an inconsistent season, Joao Pedro has continued to be a key player. He has tallied 5 goals and 5 assists in the league thus far this season. Brighton may not be at their peak form, but they are scheduled to play against a defensively suspect Everton this weekend, and Pedro is likely expected to make an impact.

2. Alexander Isak – Newcastle | 137 points | £9.4m

Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak is presently in outstanding form. Newcastle initiated the season unevenly; nevertheless, they are excelling at the moment. They secured 8 consecutive wins, with three of those victories against Manchester United, Spurs, and Arsenal. Isak has scored in 7 of these 8 contests. The Swedish forward has scored 15 goals this season and has contributed 5 assists, and lately, he has attained remarkable form. Last game, he and Newcastle both experienced a blip but this weekend, Newcastle confronts a very weak Southampton team. Expect Isak to score given his current form.

1. Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa | 110 points | £8.9m

Ollie Watkins

A lot of the attention when it comes to Aston Villa forwards has gone to Jhon Duran this season. This is partly due to the fact that Ollie Watkins, who was outstanding last season, started slowly this season. But he has been on fire of late. He already has 10 goals and 4 assists this season, more than what Duran has managed. He has 5 goal contributions in his last 5 games in all competitions, exhibiting some great form. This weekend, Villa plays an inconsistent West Ham side. Their next couple of fixtures are quite good too and Watkins will be expected to deliver.

As we turn our attention to Gameweek 23, the Premier League has a thrilling set of fixtures lined up. The highlight of the weekend is the game between Manchester City and Chelsea. Both teams have been largely inconsistent this season but both are embroiled in a battle for the Champions League spots so it is going to be exciting.

The deadline for GW23 is on January 25th.
