Rank | Player | Club | Price | Points | GW19 Opponent |
1 | Trent Alexander-Arnold | Liverpool | £7.1m | 66 points | West Ham |
2 | Ola Aina | Nottingham Forest | £5.1m | 81 points | Everton |
3 | Josko Gvardiol | Manchester City | £6.0m | 66 points | Leicester City |

5 | Levi Colwill | Chelsea | £4.6m | 45 points | Ipswich Town |
5. Levi Colwill – Chelsea | 45 points | £4.6m
Levi Colwill has risen as one of the most improved players for Chelsea this season. Often mocked last year, the centre back has rejuvenated his season with numerous dependable performances, assuming a leadership role in Chelsea’s young defensive lineup. Much of the praise can be credited to new manager Enzo Maresca for his vital contribution to this transformation of Colwill’s. The talent has always been present, and now he is finally realizing it. This weekend, Chelsea will face an Ipswich team, finds it difficult to score, and thus Colwill will be expected to achieve a clean sheet. Interestingly, he even had an assist last week.

4. Dean Huijsen – Bournemouth | 48 points | £4.4m
Dean Huijsen has definitely been the breakthrough defender from this campaign so far. At just 19, Huijsen has certainly made a mark in the Premier League. Trained by Juventus and released for some unknown reason despite his strong performance at Roma last season, he has developed a notable skill for headers from set pieces, resulting in goals against Spurs and Manchester United. He even won the Man of the Match last week against Crystal Palace. Bournemouth’s performance has elevated them to 6th place, and another promising week lies ahead as they take on Fulham.
3. Josko Gvardiol – Manchester City | 66 points | £6.0m
Josko Gvardiol was a regular on this list at the start of the season before poor form hit Manchester City and it has refused to leave them since. 1 win across 13 games in all competitions is a terrible run and Gvardiol’s own form hasn’t been that great, especially in defence. However, City’s opponents this weekend, Leicester City are rather docile going forward. Add to that the fact that Gvardiol often looks like City’s most threatening player in the opponent’s box and you have a good differential pick for this week. Will this be the weekend City’s form improves?
2. Ola Aina – Nottingham Forest | 81 points | £5.1m
Ola Aina and Nottingham Forest are in the midst of a terrific Premier League season. They are as high as 4th in the table and the Nigerian fullback has been a star for them. No defender in the league has as many points as Aina, a statistic that shows his high quality. Along with the 7 clean sheets that Forest have, Aina also registers offensive contributions, scoring twice this season already. He has also managed a bunch of bonus points. This weekend, Forest play a weak Everton side, so that’s yet more points potential for Aina.
1. Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool | 66 points | £7.1m
Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to be featured on this list for each gameweek, and this is because he is recognized as one of the greatest Fantasy Premier League assets ever. In the realm of defenders, he is regarded as one of the most valuable both regarding cost and the points he has gathered. With news swirling of him having accepted a move to Real Madrid on free in the summer, it remains to be seen how the Liverpool fans react to him going forward. That being said, he has excelled in the games and his underlying statistics seem highly favorable, especially in attacking situations. The points might come once more this weekend against West Ham, as Liverpool strives to continue their impressive form this season and stay at the top of the rankings.
As we turn our attention to Gameweek 19, the Premier League has a thrilling set of fixtures lined up. The highlight of the weekend is the game between Manchester United and Newcastle United. Manchester United have been struggling immensely and any win at the moment looks difficult to come by. Newcastle on the other hand have hit a rich vein of form and look difficult to beat currently.
The deadline for GW18 is on December 29th.
