Former Barcelona midfielder ready to embark on new adventure in Serie A

According to reports, newly-promoted Serie A club Como are working to secure a deal with free agent Sergi Roberto, who recently left Barcelona after an 18-year tenure. The former vice-captain of Barcelona is currently in talks with Como over a potential two-year contract.

As per Sky Sport Italia, Como is in continuous communication with Sergi Roberto, trying to finalise the terms of the deal. Intermediaries are involved in the discussions to find a suitable agreement for both parties.

The 32-year-old player, has an impressive record from his time at Barcelona, having made 373 appearances over 11 seasons with the senior team. Out of these, 245 were in LaLiga. Interest in Maxi Perrone

In addition to Sergi Roberto, Como are reportedly interested in Manchester City’s 21-year-old Argentine midfielder Maxi Perrone. This interest suggests Como’s intent to build a competitive squad for their Serie A campaign.

Summer Signings

Como has been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in several high-profile players. They have added former Real Madrid and Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane, as well as former Liverpool players Pepe Reina and Alberto Moreno. Andrea Belotti has also joined the squad to bolster their attacking options, with Cesc Fabregas now leading the team as manager.

Season Opener

Despite their ambitious signings, Como faced a tough start to the 2024/25 Serie A season, suffering a 3-0 defeat to Juventus in their opening match. This match also marked Thiago Motta’s first game in charge as Como’s head coach. Como remains determined to strengthen their squad further, with hopes that new additions like Sergi Roberto and potentially Maxi Perrone can help them compete at the highest level in Italian football.
