Fabrizio Romano provides massive update on Joao Neves’ PSG move
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a mega update on Joao Neves’ move from Benfica to PSG. Romano reported that the two concerned clubs have signed all documents and Neves will sign his contract after successfully completing his medical.
The Parisians are paying 60 million Euros as fixed fee with 10 million Euros in add-ons to sign Neves from Benfica. Renato Sanches, meanwhile, has returned to Benfica on loan as part of the deal. Romano reported on X (formerly Twitter):
“Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica sign all documents for João Neves deal. All sealed at €60m fixed fee, €10m add-ons, Renato Sanches on loan to Benfica. João, successfully completing main part of medical tests at PSG and then set to sign his contract.”
Joao Neves is considered one of the best young midfielders in European football. He was widely linked with a move to Manchester United and linked up with compatriot Bruno Fernandes. Instead, he will now link up with Vitinha at PSG. While Benfica initially wanted Neves’ release clause of 120 million Euros to be paid, they softened their stance to allow a move to PSG.
Joao Neves deal could affect PSG’s Manuel Ugarte decision
Joao Neves to PSG could see the Parisian club allow Manuel Ugarte to leave. Apart from Neves, the Parisians have also signed 18-year-old Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Moscardo. Manchester United, on the other hand, are heavily interested in Ugarte.
PSG reportedly want 59 million pounds for Ugarte, which is a bit too much for the Red Devils’ liking. They are reportedly waiting for the Ligue 1 giants to soften their stance. The completion of the Neves deal could see PSG allow Ugarte to leave. Erik ten Hag is keen on the defensive midfielder after the club have already signed Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.
