Fabio Carvalho determined to make a mark at Liverpool despite still settling in at Arne Slot’s plans
Liverpool forward Fabio Carvalho is aiming to make his mark under the Arne Slot era as the Portuguese player is ready to battle it out for a first-team position in the Premier League despite the manager not yet being assured of whether to play him in order to suit his capabilities the best moving ahead.
Carvalho is back with the Reds after the completion of his previous loan spell. Arne Slot took a gamble when he played the 21-year-old as the central figure inculcating a false nine in their pre-season fixture against Preston North End. However, the decision was influenced by the non-availability of Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez.
In the next pre-season match against Real Betis, Fabio Carvalho was played at the left-wing position by Slot. The Reds manager reportedly believes that it is the best position for the 21-year-old forward player. But Carvalho slightly varies from Slot, in his thought process and inflicted his thoughts.

Talking to ‘Liverpool Echo’, the Portuguese quoted – “We Spoke (him and Arne Slot) about it and (Slot) told me to try and settle on the wing but obviously I know where I play best and I feel that is as a No. 10”.
However, progressing on his willingness to work hard and make his mark under the current circumstances, Carvalho further stated – “We’ve had a few conversations which I’m not going to go into detail about, but he wants me to get my head down and work hard and see where that goes”.
“I’m just going to do what he (Slot) wants me to do and just work as hard as I can for him”. It can be clearly inferred that it might be hard for Fabio Carvalho to break into the first team in a scenario where Liverpool and Arne Slot have most of their first-choice players available, but he could do so by impressive the Dutch manager in the pre-season with his attitude and work ethic.
