When Will Everton Goalkeeper Emily Ramsey Return From injury?

A setback in the Emily Ramsey injury will force the Everton goalkeeper to remain on the sidelines for longer and has ruled her out for the remainder of the WSL season.

Emily Ramsey Injury: What happened?

Emily Ramsey has earned herself several admirers over her short stint at Everton. Many expected to see her live up to her full potential this campaign, but an unfortunate injury has absolutely derailed the goalkeeper’s season. The Emily Ramsey injury came back in December as Everton took on Liverpool in a Merseyside derby in the league cup. The goalkeeper injured her ankle ahead of the tie and since then, the promising goalkeeper has spent time on the sidelines.

Initially, Emily was expected to return to first-team training in a month, but after tedious rehab, she was set to play a friendly last weekend finally. Unfortunately for the goalkeeper, she has now picked up a new injury as she has suffered an injury to her other ankle. The new Emily Ramsey injury is now expected to sideline the goalkeeper at least for a month, ruling her out for the remainder of the WSL season.

Emily Ramsey statement on X

The goalkeeper took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her anguish. The goalkeeper said, “Following a slow and taxing few months of rehab in a bid to return to first-team action before the season ended, last weekend I was preparing to play in a friendly ready to get 90 minutes of football under my belt after only two weeks of full training. A game I was thoroughly looking forward to.”

“Unfortunately however, on Friday I suffered an injury to my other ankle and now await an appointment with a specialist to decide if it needs surgery,” the star goalkeeper added.

When will Emily Ramsey return for injury?

While an official date hasn’t been offered by Everton or Emily Ramsey, the goalkeeper is likely to be sidelined till the start of the 2024/25 campaign.  It remains to be seen whether the goalkeeper needs surgery on a newly injured ankle. Irrespective of surgery, the goalkeeper will have to go through rigorous rehab and training in isolation to recover in time for next season.

Unfortunately for the prospective goalkeeper, the Emily Ramsey injury will also see her miss upcoming matches for England as well. While the Everton player earned a call-up to the senior side last year, she is yet to make her debut for England’s women’s senior side.
