Euro 2024 injuries: Who’s missing from the tournament?
Euro 2024 is on the verge of a grand start in Germany. The participating countries had announced their final squads for the tournament in advance, with some of the players missing out on the final draft due to injury-related concerns. Most of the teams had to drop some of their prominent players just at the tip of the tournament because of unexpected circumstances. Here we take a look at Euro 2024 injuries list, detailing who will miss the tournament due to injuries and their potential impact.
Frankie de Jong
Frankie de Jong has reportedly been declared not fully recovered from his previous injury sustained. The Dutch team management has decided to drop him from their final Euro 2024 squad. It has been cited that his ankle is not “resilient enough” at this stage in time to grant him participation in the final squad.
Otavio
Otavio had to be replaced by Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes in Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad. The Al-Nassr player suffered a major injury blow during the Saudi Club’s match against Al-Hilal, which was the final of the King Cup of Champions. He is one of the most notable names in the list of players injured for Euro 2024.
Lyndon Dykes
Lyndon Dykes will miss out on the UEFA Euro 2024 after an injury sustained during one of the training sessions for Scotland in the city of Glasgow. The Scottish team management has made it clear that the forward wouldn’t be fit and available for the upcoming Euros.

Ben Doak
After finding himself in Scotland’s initial provisional squad for Euro 2024, Ben Doak has failed to make it to the final shortlist of players who will travel with the squad to Germany for the prestigious competition. As per reports, he is nurturing a knee injury that he suffered in the latter stages of the year 2023.
Marten de Roon
Marten De Roon will add to the injured list of players leading into the UEFA Euro 2024. The highly rated Seria A midfielder from the club Atalanta is set to miss the tournament in Germany after picking up a major knee injury during Atalanta’s match (Copa Italia decider) against fellow league rivals Juventus.
Caglar Soyunchu
Caglar Soyunchu crashed out of Turkey’s Euro 2024 roster after suffering a thigh injury while playing for Fenerbache. The Turkish club has the defender currently on loan from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid. His absence will be a huge blow for his national side in the Euros.
Giorgio Scalvani
The Seria A center-back emerged as one of the most capable performers for Atalanta in their successful 2023/24 campaign. Unfortunately, an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury sustained by him on the last match-day of the season proved to be the end-game for him in terms of making it to Italy’s final Euro 2024 squad. He adds to the list of players injured for Euro 2024.

Notable Players struggling to find full fitness going into the Euros
Some of the players who have initially been able to make it to the final squad for their Country’s UEFA Euro 2024 campaign are actually struggling to regain their full fitness back. A few of the players are still nourishing and on the way to recovery from their previous injury issues. Maybe the lack of options has tipped the team management to name them in their final roster for Germany. Here, we take a look at some of these players.
Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw has been struggling since the early part of the year 2024 to regain his full fitness. The Manchester United player was a doubt for England’s Euro 2024 squad. However, with not major number of options available for the Three Lions leading into the European tournament, they had to name him in their final squad of players.
England’s manager, Gareth Southgate, has also been quite unsure about Shaw’s selection when asked something about it during his press conferences. It remains to be seen if the Red Devils player will be able to make it to England’s opening match for the Euros.
Robert Lewandowski
The Poland team management is not that concerned about their star forward’s availability for their opening fixture of the tournament. But Robert Lewandowski did appear to be in some discomfort when he had to be substituted after an injury scare in one of the friendly fixtures.
Mike Maignan
Mike Maignan was expected to be France’s first-choice goalkeeper going into the Euro 2024, but apparently, some consistent injury concerns have recently raised doubts over his place in the playing eleven. Maignan missed a notable number of matches for his Seria A club in the closing stages of the 2023/24 Italian top-flight campaign.
Andy Robertson
Recent reports reflected towards Liverpool player Andy Robertson not being a part of the full Scotland training session and left it in the midway. However, the Scottish team management reflected that it was a stunt directed towards being “extra cautious” leading into the Euros.
Aurelin Tchouameni
Concerns did loom large regarding Aurelin Tchouameni’s availability for France’s initial fixture of the Euros to be played against Austria. However, recent reports have inferred that he is believed to be completely match-fit before the fixture and is likely to play.
