Erling Haaland praises Real Madrid ahead of Man City’s tie against them in the Champions League quarters
Erling Haaland recently spoke in high praise of Real Madrid during an interview. Los Blancos are known for their rich and decorated history, especially in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish giants also have one of the best young and talented squads in Europe, which is another reason why Haaland is attracted to their style of play.
Erling Haaland’s thoughts on Real Madrid
Speaking in a press conference prior to Manchester City’s 3-1 win in Copenhagen in the second leg, Haaland was asked if he thinks Real Madrid has ‘everything’ a player needs.
The Norwegian gave a clear reply highlighting his respect for Los Blancos’ achievements, while also reiterating his commitment towards City.
“I’m really happy, especially with the people I’m surrounded by. The manager, the directors, the board, I am really happy I have to say.
“I say this now, it will probably be a massive headline, tomorrow you never know what the future brings but I am happy. You can write this but you also have to write everything I said before. I am happy.”
As they do, Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on Erling Haaland ever since he broke onto the footballing scene with RB Salzburg. He joined Borussia Dortmund and now Manchester City in a bid to progress his career and it has paid dividends.
However, aged just 23, sky is the limit for the Norwegian and a move could be on the cards somewhere down the line.
The Norwegian’s record for Man City so far
Erling Haaland signed for Manchester City in July 2022 from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth a reported £58 million. Since then, he has become a mainstay in Pep Guardiola’s first team, and one of the first names on the team sheet.
Haaland has made 87 appearances for the club so far, netting a remarkable 81 goals and also providing 15 assists for his teammates. His physicality, raw power and pace, and sheer hunger for goals makes him more than a handful for defenders that come up against him.
Such was his impact with the club that they won the treble in his first season with them last year. Haaland is a Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League winner with City. He also won the UEFA Super Cup earlier this season.
