“I’ll go somewhere else”- Erik ten Hag gives brutal statement after Manchester United’s FA Cup final win
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has given a bold statement after the Red Devils’ 2-1 win in the FA Cup final. United beat Manchester City to lift a silverware this season. Ten Hag has now won two trophies in his first two seasons as the Manchester United manager.
Alejandro Garnacho (30′) and Kobbie Mainoo (39′) were on the scoresheet for United. Jeremy Doku (87′) scored City’ss only goal. Ten Hag was under a lot of pressure heading into the contest. His Manchester United future is uncertain. The Dutchman has now given a bold statement, saying (via Fabrizio Romano on X):
“Two trophies in two seasons and three finals… not bad. If they don’t want me anymore, I’ll go somewhere else and win trophies. That’s what I do.”
Manchester United finished eighth in the league this season, their worst finish in the Premier League era. Erik ten Hag’s side, however, secure a place in next season’s Europa League final courtesy of the win. However, doubts remain about the Dutchman’s future at the club.
Andy Mitten backs Erik ten Hag to stay at Manchester United
Journalist Andy Mitten has shared hiss take on Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United future. Mitten claimed that United fans want a manager to stay long-term. He claims Ten Hag deserves more time and continues to back the manager. Mitten said ahead of the FA Cup final (via UF on X):
“United fans would like a manager who stays for more than 2 years. Fans are sick of this cycle [hiring & firing]. Ten Hag’s stock is not on the floor. LOTS of people are backing him. I’ve backed him, and I’m glad I did.”
Names like Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, and others have been linked with taking over at Manchester United next season. The FA Cup final win, however, could see the tide turn in Ten Hag’s favor.
