Enzo Maresca wants a new No.9 this summer
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca hopes that the club sign a new No.9 before the end of the summer transfer window. The Blues already have Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu as their main striking options and have sanctioned a permanent move for Romelu Lukaku away to Napoli.
Despite having three strikers at his disposal, Maresca is still considering an additional No.9 to bolster his attacking options this summer.
“We don’t need to sign players just for signing players. If we sign a player to make us improve, we will sign players, otherwise we are happy with the way we are”, Maresca said.
“If we have a chance to bring a number nine that makes us better, we are going to try.”
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, but would only consider a loan deal for the Nigerian international. But, the Serie A outfit are reluctant to let Osimhen leave on loan and prefer a permanent sale.
