English Premier League Latest Standings After Gameweek 13
Gameweek 13 of the English Premier League 2023/24 season had some mouth-watering clashes to look forward to with respect to the dynamics of the League Table. With just 2 points separating the top 4 clubs in the table, the Premier League has once again lived up to the hype of its unpredictable and competitive nature.
Stalemate at the Etihad
Gameweek 13 kicked off with a top-of-the-table clash as the defending champions, Manchester City, took on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who had been undefeated in their previous six league games. The game started with both teams in the hunt for the three points in order to establish some dominance at the top of the table.
It was none other than the record-breaker Norwegian, Erling Haaland, who broke the deadlock, scoring his 50th Premier League goal becoming the fastest to do so in the process, a record which was previously held by former Manchester and Newcastle United striker, Andy Cole, who took 65 games to establish the record.

City looked like they were going to maintain the top spot until Trent-Alexander Arnold decided to spoil the party. The pacy Liverpool right-back took a shot from the edge of the box in the 82nd minute of the game, slotting the ball just past Ederson to equalize the game and silence the stadium.
With not much time left on the clock for a winner, both teams had to settle for a draw and look forward to Arsenal’s trip to Brentford which would change the dynamics of the table as the Gameweek would come to close.
Third consecutive loss for Tottenham while Mikel Arteta’s Gunners take the top spot
Tottenham Hotspur had been in some sensational form since the start of the season acquiring the top spot, but seem to have lost their rhythm in the last few games. A 4-1 defeat against Pocchettino’s Chelsea at home, followed by a 2-1 loss to Wolves at the Molineux, and now again a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa at home has resulted in the Lilywhites slipping down to fifth position in the league.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were successful in getting all the three points back home from Brentford, thanks to a Kai Havertz winner in the 89th minute of the game. With this narrow 1-0 win, the Gunners now acquire the top spot in the table, followed by Manchester City, Liverpool and Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.
Garnacho’s stunner at Goodison Park, while Chelsea stunned at St. James’ Park.
Gameweek 13 saw Erik Ten Hag’s men winning three premier league games on the trot with a comfortable 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park. The deadlock was broken by Alejandro Garncacho in the 16th minute with an absolute stunner from out of the blue.
An acrobatic finish from the Argentine must surely have given every Red Devils fan a flashback from the past reminding them of the infamous Rooney goal against arch-rivals Manchester City in the derby from 12 years ago.
Another positive takeaway from the game was the 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo’s performance who played wonderfully at the CDM position since Casemiro’s injury. United still are sixth in the premier league and will be facing Newcastle United in Gameweek 14 who are just a point behind them in the table
Once again, Talking about the Magpies, even after injury woes and some important players sidelined they didn’t fail in securing another huge win, this time defeating Chelsea with a huge 4-1 scoreline at home. The game was beautifully poised up until half-time with both teams scoring a goal each.
But, since the second half started it was Newcastle United all over the Blues. With two goals in a single minute, Eddie Howe’s men were rampant once again. Antony Gordon’s goal in the final minutes of the games served as a cherry on the top for the Magpies who are seventh in the Premier League, followed by Brighton, West Ham United, and Chelsea.
Luton Town established a strong lead over the danger zone
On the opposite end of the table, the bottom three, Burnley, Sheffield United, and Everton all lost their respective games but it was Luton town who were able to grind out a crucial win against Crystal Palace at home. Luton are now five points ahead of Sheffield United and the relegation zone with their second win of the entire season. Woes continue for the bottom three with important upcoming games in Gameweek 14.
